All office supplies that were ordered from Staples in the past will be available through the Workday catalogue.

We offer a number of products throughout the store made from recycled or eco-friendly resources. We actively seek out and purchase locally-made or Canadian-made products to reduce our carbon footprint. In the Corner Store, we have sourced sandwiches and salads from small, local businesses.

Definitely! We offer free in-store pickup at both our Vancouver and Okanagan campus locations. Just select pickup in-store as your preferred shipping option on the checkout page and we will send you an order status update email once it is ready for pick up.

In-stock items are usually ready for in-store pickup within 1-2 business days and can be picked up at the Online Order desk. Please bring your Order # and a piece of ID that matches the order name.

Please note that additional processing/shipping time is required for out of stock items, preorders, and UBCO items requiring a stock transfer from our Vancouver campus.

Yes, if you are ordering from one of our established programs on this page.

Otherwise, you must meet our minimum order quantities for clothing which are:

  • Screenprinted items: 24
  • Embroidered pieces: 12

For giftware (such as drinkware and lanyards) minimum order quantities are item-dependent. Please contact the Custom Imprint Buyer to request more information.

Unfortunately, no. All gowns can only be picked up 1 hour and 30 minutes prior to the ceremony you are attending. Gowns are boxed by ceremony number and are not unpacked until right before each ceremony, so we are not able to retrieve them advance.

No, for security reasons, orders will not be delivered to residential addresses. Only special exceptions will be permitted as determined and approved by Workday approvers.

Typically, publishers will place restrictions on actions you can take within their eBook platforms. This usually includes restrictions on both copying text and printing. However this varies from publisher to publisher.

The textbook buyback program is no longer available at this time.

Yes! Please contact our Custom Imprint Buyer to discuss consignment opportunities through the UBC Bookstore.

Yes. Contact Campus Mail to arrange pick-upcampus.mail@ubc.ca Tel 604-822-9495 and bring your ID at the time of pick-up. You do not need to change your delivery address on Workday.  The Vancouver Campus supplies and paper pack orders are automatically routed to UBC Campus Mail.

Yes, all individuals participating in the graduation ceremonies at the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses are required to wear academic regalia. This includes graduating students, faculty, administration and invited guests who will be seated on stage as well as volunteers. Academic regalia includes a gown, hood and headwear appropriate to the degree being granted. The mortarboard hats for bachelors and masters students are optional, but a gown and hood must be worn by all students wishing to attend. Any attire (formal, business, traditional, or casual) may be worn underneath the gown, but footwear must always be worn.
For more information, please see the UBC Graduation website: UBC Academic Regalia Guidelines
If you have any questions, please contact UBC Ceremonies ceremonies.graduation@ubc.ca (Vancouver campus) or okanagan.ceremonies@ubc.ca (Okanagan campus)

No, you do not need to buy both. If you buy the Canvas Digital option, this gives you both the eBook and Canvas access digitally. Buying the Canvas Print option gives you the same Canvas access but comes with a physical textbook instead of an eBook.

It depends! EBook digital licenses and access lengths vary by publisher and book. Many eBooks are rentals that include digital subscription access that is valid for a set time period (Ex: 180 days, 2 years) or for the duration of your course (Ex: Canvas eBooks). Other eBooks include lifetime or "perpetual" access that doesn't expire, which allows you to own and access your eBook indefinitely. We recommend always checking the subscription length prior to purchasing your eBook to make sure you choose the option that's best for you!

Custom imprint pricing is always quantity-dependent so the higher the quantities, the lower the per-item pricing.

In addition to quantity:

Clothing pricing is driven largely by:

  • Imprint type (screenprint vs. embroidery)
  • Design complexity (more colors = higher pricing)
  • Number of imprints (e.g., front of shirt, back of shirt, sleeve, etc.)

Giftware pricing is driven largely by:

  • Design complexity
  • Number of imprints

To order items that are not on the Workday supplies catalogue, you can use the Workday special requisition process. Please refer to the Workday instructions for ordering non-catalogue items.   Your ISC support team can assist with the training. Please use this link for ISC Service Now.

UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan, you have two options:

  • You can order your textbooks online. If ordering online and you’re living on or close to campus, please choose the Pick-Up option to pick up your books when you’re back on campus. Please ensure you bring your order number and your student ID.
  • If you want to shop in-store, come into the store and print out your personalized book list. Our staff will help you find your books. Before visiting, ensure you check our back-to-school opening hours - we offer extended hours during the start of term. Aiming to arrive at the store either before 11:30am or after 2:30pm will help you avoid our busiest times.

Other tips:

  • Shop early. Many required textbooks are available up to two weeks before classes start.
  • International students: If you will be taking classes remotely this term, allow AMPLE time to receive your books and other supplies to your country otherwise you may not have what you need on the first day of class. If you are travelling from an international location to campus for classes, we advise you to choose the Pick-Up option so your textbooks will be ready for you to pick up at the store when you arrive on campus.

Please contact the UBC Integrated Services Centre with the Service Now linkhttps://authentication.ubc.ca/idp/profile/SAML2/Redirect/SSO?execution=e3s1 They will update your Location ID, but you will also need to change your CWL Profile address detail to show correct room # and street #.

You can use the Course Search feature here: https://the.bookstore.ubc.ca/books/course-search
If you know your CWL login and are taking courses at UBC this term, you can generate your booklist by selecting 'Access your personalized booklist.'

Alternatively, you can use the manual navigation by selecting a Campus, Course and Section to build your book list.

Job Aids have been created to guide you through the use of Workday and ordering office supplies. Please refer to this link to the ISC Service Now.

You must submit payment info at the time of placing your order – we hold payment info and do not bill your order until it has arrived at the Bookstore and been checked for accuracy and quality assurance.

If you are ordering for a department please request a quote, and then you can either:

  • Authorize payment on an open account at the Bookstore (provide your driver worktag information for us to check or help you set up the account)

OR

  • Pay online using a departmental credit card

If you are ordering for a student group with an AMS account then please request an invoice and then submit a cheque payable to the UBC Bookstore.

If you are ordering for yourself or a small group that are not affiliated with an undergraduate society or department then please request a quote and we will provide the steps to make a payment using a credit card.

We use three different distributors in order to make as many digital course materials available to students as we possibly can. The downside to this is that redeeming your digital course materials can seem...complicated. We get it. We hope these step-by-step instructions will help.

1. Determine whether you have purchased a Campus E-Bookstore, Vitalsource or Canvas Digital product. In your online order Status Update email, find the shipment for the item you wish to activate. It should tell you which type of course material you have purchased and provide instructions on what to do next, but if you are unsure:

  • Campus E-Bookstore: Below the item name, you should see a 12-character redemption code in red, separated by dashes (combination of letters and numbers).
  • Vitalsource:  Below the item name, you should see a 20-character access code (combination of letters and numbers).
  • Canvas Digital: the item you have purchased will be named “Canvas Digital: [publication title]” or Canvas Print: [publication title]”

2. Visit the link that corresponds with your purchase and follow the on-screen instructions:

More details can be found on our Digital Course Materials page.

In our warehouse we recycle all of our cardboard in a compactor.  We also recycle packaging (paper, foam chips and plastic) and reuse it wherever possible for our outgoing shipments including packages to customers and returns to vendors. Wooden pallets are also recycled.

We recycle printer ribbons and cartridges, batteries and pens.  The collection container is at the back of the store.

All metal fixtures are taken to a recycling centre.

We also encourage re-use of textbooks through used books, buybacks and rental books.

To provide greater flexibility to students, your booklist will often include multiple options for your course materials. Required textbooks are chosen by your instructor and contain mandatory readings and content essential to your participation in the course. Alternative textbooks on the other hand, are typically alternate versions of the same required textbook that deliver the same content but in a different format.

For example, your booklist might show an eBook and access code as your required textbook, and list the physical package version of the same textbook as an alternative option. However they are also giving you an alternate option of the physical package of the book, which contains the print version of your textbook and digital access code as a package. If you'd prefer having the physical book rather than an eBook, you can select the print package as an alternate option. Alternate options provide students options for purchasing the course materials that best fit their learning needs and their budgets.

Important note: you only need to buy ONE of either the required textbook or its alternates, as either option is acceptable for your course.

If you want to be a boss, you can also read the optional textbooks, which are for additional reading on a particular subject. Optional textbooks aren't required for your course, these are normally supplementary course materials that are recommended by your instructors.

Faculty regalia for the Fall 2025 graduation ceremonies may be rented in advance online from Monday, October 5 through the Faculty Rental Form.

The deadline to rent regalia online is Thursday, November 13 at 11:59pm (PST) for faculty members.

  • Please arrive 45-60 minutes before the ceremony at the Robing Room.
  • Acceptable payment methods include cash, credit card, debit card or Open Account Worktag (UBC Bookstore account) information.

Gowns must be returned to the gown drop off location no later than 1 hour after your ceremony concludes.

As the gowns are packed up and shipped back at the end of each day, it is unfortunately not possible to keep your gown longer, but the mortarboard hat is yours to keep!

Staples Business Advantage and Staples.Ca are two separate divisions of Staples. UBC’s contract for supplies and copy paper, with Staples Business Advantage, includes special services like

Environmentally friendly delivery with smaller Campus Mail trucks, reducing greenhouse gases and carbon taxes for UBC.

These special services, included in the price of the Workday items, help UBC to save money, time and the environment.

Firstly, we commend you on your organizational skills! There are many reasons why your textbook is not available on your first day: the publisher may be out of stock or impacted by shipping delays, your department or professor may have submitted a late request for your book, enrolment may have increased or classes added. These are just some of the most common reasons. When there is a delay, we make every effort to get the books to the store as quickly as possible.

If you are currently outside of BC and are planning on being on Campus for your first day of class, we strongly advise that you select the option to pick up your books in-store, rather than having them shipped to you out of province. This will ensure you receive your books are quickly as possible. Order your course materials here.

Please complete our contact form and a Bookstore team member will assist you.

Textbooks are different from general books because of the information they contain and the limited market they serve. Publishers set a price and the bookstore tries to keep our retail as close to that price as possible. We try to offer as many economical options as we can; including, new, used and ebooks.

  • At the UBC Bookstore we ensure that all UBC branded items adhere strictly to UBC’s branding guidelines. This means that you can be confident that your custom items are on brand and are representing UBC.
  • We are proud of our Living Our Values statement, and all of our clothing items are sourced from Fair Labour Association (FLA) compliant vendors. This means you can rest assured that your imprinted clothing was made ethically and followed environmentally responsible practices.
  • In addition to our No Sweat Policy, we support local and make every effort to work with local and Canadian vendors wherever possible.
  • Finally, a portion of all the UBC Bookstore’s proceeds go back into the university, which means that your purchase helps to support your local UBC community.

There are a few reasons why you received this declined order notification:

  • Your billing address does not match your credit card’s address. Your billing address must match exactly what is shown on your credit card statement
  • The address you’ve entered is incorrect and/or our system doesn’t recognize the address
  • The credit card has been reported stolen or lost
  • The credit card limit has been reached
  • Also note, our website cannot process debit cards (VISA or Mastercard debit)

Finally, this can sometimes be a system issue on our end that will resolve itself within 24 hours. Please check all of the factors above first. If after 24 hours you are still having problems with your online order, please contact us using the link below and we will do everything we can to assist you.

Please contact us by email.

No, Workday does not require a credit card. Workday will post all charges using your Workday “Worktag #/FDM#.

To help us prepare for the next semester, we return all overstock to the publishers. This allows us to have shelf space ready for next terms books. If you need textbooks, it is advisable to purchase them at the beginning of the semester.
